Grey: El camino del hielo (Documentary)

June 01, 2024

In the past few years, I have had the chance to participate in the Patagonia Icefield Research Program (PIRP) as faculty in glacial geology. This awesome iniatiative was created by Camilo Rada and Natalia Martínez, two of the greatest explorers of Patagonia, as a fieldwork-oriented course for the Glaciology Master of the Centro de Investigación GAIA-Antártica (CIGA). In 2023, we got some additional funds by the International Glaciological Society (IGS) and the International Association of Cryospheric Sciences (IACS), so we went international for the first time, welcoming students and faculty from Argentina, Chile, United States and Switzerland.

Rocadictos: El Último Máximo Glacial en la Patagonia (Radio/Podcast)

June 07, 2023

For some beautiful reason, in Chile, we have an Earth Sciences show on national radio called Rocadictos. It is hosted by young geology professors, students, and journalists from the Universidad de Chile, and they interview geoscientists focused on a variety of topics from all around the country. In 2023, I was lucky enough to be invited to talk about glaciers and glaciations in Patagonia and to listen to some Beastie Boys songs. It was a lot of fun, and I got to present the amazing drumlin field near Punta Arenas to the whole country!

¿Cómo se formó Chiloé? En busca de la historia geológica de la isla (Book)

June 01, 2021

This book is one of the things that makes me proudest of my years as a scientist. Isla Grande de Chiloé is a well-known Chilean island in northern Patagonia. It is definitely a magical place whose people still guard the local mythology and culture. I spent several years focused on the glacial geomorphology of the island, working with my research group as part of my Ph.D. dissertation, so I have a love-hate relationship with Chiloé. Local sibling geologists from Achao, Melissa and Guido González-Subiabre, put together a beautiful project to create a children’s book on the geological history of the Chilotan Archipelago called ¿Cómo se formó Chiloé? En busca de la historia geológica de la isla. I found the initiative on social media and immediately sent them a message, offering all the knowledge I had collected from their islands during my research. Fortunately, they allowed me to join the team of scientists, teachers, and artists behind the book!

Planeta Agua: Caminando entre glaciares con la Fundación Glaciares Chilenos (Podcast)

June 01, 2020

I have been collaborating with Fundación Glaciares Chilenos since 2020. This Chilean NGO advocates for protecting Andean glaciers through education and political action. Thanks to them, I had the opportunity of participating in a podcast series from Spain focused on “water” named Planeta Agua hosted by Natalia Pérez Valle. This time we talked about frozen water. It was my first time on a podcast, but was very fun!
